John had a small stroke on September 5, 2009. He was hospitalized for 4 days. Three days later we left for Arizona where John spent 2 weeks recuperating. During that time we stayed with our son Hunt, his wife Sarah, and their two beautiful and lively children, Maxwell and Elise. Besides resting, we swam, visited with lots of extended family members, and visited St. John's, AZ, where both the Udalls and the Romneys (Roz's ancestors) settled in the 1860's.
When we returned to Charleston, WV, in October, John made arrangements with WVUHSC to work part time until his already planned retirement at the end of November.
John is in great shape now, closely controlling his blood pressure with medication. We are looking forward with great anticipation to our humanitarian mission in Kenya Nairobi beginning in February 2010.
